The Freelance Project Manager manages multidisciplinary teams to task and oversees the production of agency work across multichannel tactics. This role is accountable as a client-facing operations position in the agency, able to clearly articulate every facet of tactical delivery to clients and agency counterparts. Responsible for overall quality of work, deadlines and budgets for agency projects and accounts. Is a key strategic partner on all brand teams.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manages on-time, on budget delivery of projects through use of appropriate resource and processes
  • Responsible for trafficking jobs through digital routing system to ensure that they stay on task
  • Ability to develop timelines and estimates of all levels of complexity working with supervisor as needed
  • Thoroughly understands digital and print process
  • Balances agency/client needs and consults appropriate team members for input/approvals of proposed timing and estimate
  • Facilitates communication between team members in all phases of project development by ensuring all disciplines are kept abreast of action items, feedback, next steps, client communications/conference reports, project developments/status and direction etc. Ensures right people are in the right meetings
  • May perform a client-facing role, taking the lead in walking internal stakeholders and clients through project schedules of critical dates, explaining and clearly articulating details embedded in estimates and statements of work.  Proactively able to identify areas of risk associated with a project (learning risk mitigation)
  • Ensures team adherence to agency process. Identifies issues and leads problem resolution
  • Understands and is able to partner with Account Services counterpart to help manage client expectations in tandem with their agency counterparts
  • Develops strong relationships with cross functional leads
  • Mentors, trains and may directly supervise junior PM team members; review work product, estimates and timelines developed by junior team members
  • Provides weekly financial health reports and recommendations; support forecasting
    • Partners with Account team to track and report actual hours on a weekly basis
  • Partners with Account team & PM Sup to develop yearly SOW and associated staff plan
  • May mentor, train and directly supervise junior PM team members; review work product, estimates and timelines developed by junior team members

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus at least 5 years of relevant industry experience: Advertising or Interactive/Professional Services
  • Previous project management and project planning experience (3+ years)
  • Ability to collaborate closely with others in a team environment under tight deadlines
  • Outstanding communications skills
  • Superior organizational skills
