Job Description

As a summer intern at Equinor, you will be joining 20,000 colleagues delivering oil, gas, wind and solar power to 170 million people worldwide. The position

The summer internship programme is aimed at students from the second year of their higher education onwards, from technical and non-technical backgrounds. To be eligible, you must be enrolled as a student between September and December 2022 and have work eligibility for the country you are applying for. 

You will join us on a six-week hybrid programme - partly physical and partly virtual - designed to give you the experience and skills you need in your studies and future career. Working flexibly, you will split your time between working as part of a team within one of our business areas and delivering a group project with several of your fellow interns. In this period, you will have one-week off from the 18 July to the 22 July 2022.


By joining us, you will be part of the technical and operational activities related to maintenance management and reliability within the following two areas:  

  • Operational organisation and operations group: support the offshore installations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf with local day to day planning and execution.
  • Technical organisation: supports the installations across our portfolio with long term planning, analysis and continuous improvement. 

By joining our Operations and Maintenance teamyou will have the opportunity to work in teams on maintenance management and reliability-related tasks: 
  • Perform maintenance and reliability analysis to drive improvements within safety, regularity and cost. 
  • Participate in maintenance planning and support the maintenance execution by being part of our operations group. 
  • Use digital opportunities and big data to support analysis and challenge or improve existing tools within maintenance management. 

Equinor is focusing on digitalization; an interest in programming/scripting could be advantageous for some positions. 


You

  • Bachelor, Master’s degree or PhD with a good academic record within Maintenance Management, Reliability and RAMS, Offshore Technology, Safety and Risk Management, Mechanical Engineering.
  • Fluent in English and preferably a second working language
  • No more than one year of relevant full-time work experience
  • Completed at least two years of higher education
  • Be a student, enrolled on a higher education institution, between September and December 2022 (Master’s and PhD candidates)
  • The interns need to be located in the country where the internship takes place during its full duration 
  • Candidates must have the necessary work permit for the country in which, and at the time, they are applying for a position. Please note that we do not facilitate work permits for this role. Read more about it in the national authorities’ pages: Norway
  • Extracurricular activities and/or voluntary work is an advantage

Hands-on experience

You will spend part of your internship working on tasks and projects within the discipline you have applied for, giving you first-hand experience of the strategy, processes and culture in your team. Your hiring manager will be your main point of contact and will be responsible for ensuring you get the most out of your time with us. You will also be allocated a buddy who will provide support and follow your experience in Equinor. 

Multidiscipline project delivery

The remainder of your time will be spent working on a group project with other students from a variety of academic backgrounds. Supporting you on this project will be a subject matter expert who will act as a mentor and advisor to your task. Over the course of this project, you will develop key skills such as collaboration, leadership, communication, presentation skills and planning and time management. 

Learning and development

We will be delivering a series of learning sessions that provide an overview of our business and introduce you to some of the processes and methods we use at Equinor. These will include introductions to key areas of our strategy such as digitalisation, low carbon projects and our approach to safety and sustainability. You will also get to learn about our approach to project delivery and other methodologies that support our day-to-day deliveries.
