Our L6 Apprentice roles will be based in the Weapons Science Group as part of the Applied Science Discipline.
Our Applied Science capabilities cover materials and chemistry, electromagnetics & acoustics, human performance as well as our weapons and explosives materials-related activities.
You be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of chemists, material scientists and physicists on a range of critical customer projects. Our work encompasses world-leading research (exploring the ‘art of the possible’) to provide comprehensive evaluation and testing of weapon systems and energetic components. This role will develop you towards a materials science specialism and will teach you how to characterise and understand the mechanical properties of materials used in weapon systems and their impact on system safety.
A key part of your work will involve working in our mechanical testing laboratories and facilities that are often unique in the work undertaken, and safe working in these areas is paramount.Apprenticeships:

Our teams at Fort Halstead are primarily involved in the evaluation and testing of weapon systems and explosive materials in order to ensure that systems are both safe and perform to the highest levels.
Our work is unusual, but, absolutely critical to saving lives and protecting our sovereign nation. You will be working with a number of science and engineering teams, all with a common interest and passion for their technical areas and in supporting our customers. You will also be joining at an exciting time with significant investment underway in the site and facilities.Apprenticeship title:

- 5 GCSE's A*-C/9-5 must include Maths, English Language and Science.
- A Level's, 80 points including DD at GCE A level for Chemistry and another science subject.
