Canon UK & Ireland are currently looking for a Legal Counsel to join its Legal team at its UK & Ireland HQ and provide advice and support on our Business to Business (B2B) and Business to Consumer (B2C) services. You will also review customer and procurement contracts and provide resolutions of business or technical issues by identifying legal solutions and recommending an appropriate course of action.

What we ask
As the Legal Counsel you will:
- provide commercially minded legal, compliance and governance support on a variety of matters
- be responsible for drafting, negotiating and advising on B2B contracts
- support the creation of legal processes, contracting templates and legal guidance notes for the business.
- advise on a broad range of commercial contracts (including supply, distribution, selective distribution, sponsorship, leasing, etc), marketing issues (including advertising and promotions in both the business and consumer areas), competition law issues, data privacy, litigation/dispute management, intellectual property, anti-bribery and corruption, corporate compliance, governance and others as required from time to time.
- provide training to the business as required e.g. competition law.
- work with EMEA Legal Team colleagues and participate in EMEA Legal working groups and projects.
- review and assess risk/legal implications of relevant company strategies and activities, making recommendations for change, as required.
You will need
As the Legal Counsel, you will possess the following skills and expertise;
Previous experience working as an in-house counsel or in a law firm (preferably with some direct exposure to in-house counsel work).
Experience of drafting, negotiating and advising on commercial contracts. At least some specific experience in relation to goods/hardware/software/services contracts.
- Evidence of continuing expansion of technical and company knowledge, skills and competencies will be expected.
- Basic competency in relevant computer systems and packages

Salary - up to £78,491 dependant on experience, with 10% OTE bonus
