The main purpose of the role is to support the Tax Executive in implementing key strategic objectives for the Tax stream. This includes leading on current priority projects and any other ad hoc projects.
Current top priority projects are:
Tax Advisor of the Future (a large scale review of how the skills of the workforce and the ways of delivering tax services need to change to stay relevant and thrive in the changing environment);
Shared Service Centre’s (SSC) growth (resourcing repeat commoditised work through a shared service in Liverpool);
Raising Tax stream’s profile in the market place.
The role is expected to make a contribution across most aspects of the Firm’s strategic framework BUILD (Brand, Unifying Culture, International, Leading our Markets and Digital). The role is to support the Tax Executive in delivering operational excellence through the use of technology and new ways of working (D), in growing revenues and profits (L), in inspiring professionals of today to grow into professionals of tomorrow (U) and in raising the Tax stream’s profile in the market place (B & L) by working closely with the Sales Board.
The role reports to the Head of Tax and will also work directly with the members of the Tax Executive and the Local Heads of Tax.
Lead the development and execution of stream-wide projects on behalf of the Tax Executive and in partnership with other teams (e.g. HR, SSC, MSC (Marketing, Sales & Communications), IT etc.).
Agree relevant KPIs with the Head of Tax and the Tax Executive for each project and area of accountability; report on progress regularly.
Assist tax teams across the stream with effective transfer of relevant work into the SSC in line with set targets, positively affecting business growth and increasing productivity.
Identify ways to further increase productivity and profit margins in the stream and use know how and influence to support the Tax Executive in the implementation of processes and initiatives to achieve set targets.
Identify and deliver continuous improvement and development of the Tax stream’s processes, with a particular focus on streamlining and digitalisation, where appropriate.
Develop exceptional relationships and strong communication lines across the Tax Executive, Local Heads of Tax, Tax partners and all key internal stakeholders and support networks (e.g. MSC, Human Resources, Risk & Quality, etc.).
Partner with HR on the Tax Advisor of the Future project to ensure it is compatible with and supported by “Achieving My Potential”, the newly launched organisational framework.
Support the Tax Executive in the development and implementation of a systematic approach to aligning strategy, people and processes, including ensuring that objectives at all levels in the stream are aligned to the stream’s strategic goals.
Develop and deliver programmes that enable and imbed productive collaboration between different teams, locations and specialisms within the Tax stream and across the Firm.
Design and deliver a broad range of Tax stream-wide communications ensuring consistency of messages and articulating complex issues clearly and credibly to a range of audiences.
Support the Tax Executive with any other Change Management initiatives and ad hoc projects.
15+ years’ work experience, with 4+ years in a business role with experience in strategic development, large scale programme executions, communications, analytics and reporting, organisational development and change management.
Experience of working in Professional Services/Accountancy sector desirable.
Experience of working in a highly matrixed environment.
Knowledge and experience of using leading business theories, models and good practice to enhance performance of people and businesses.
Project management skills and experience.
