The purpose of this role is to take the lead with designing, planning and building solutions in collaboration with Business Relationship Manager(BRM) team and the business. Some of these solutions will be derived from the innovation ideas that are being generated in the business. Working closely with both the architects and BRM its is key to ensure new solutions both address the business problem or idea while adhering to our architectural design and strategic direction. This role reports to the Solutions and architecture manager.

In order to accelerate time to market, the role will utilise approaches such as buy before build and a rapid and agile methodology. Using both minimum viable product and iterative principals the role is responsible in delivering solutions at speed into the business, utilising a 'cloud first' strategy.

The individual must be both technically proficient and solution focussed, motivated by finding coherent and strategic approach to complex business challenges or new opportunities in line with BDO digital ambitions.  They should have a track record of innovation and be able to demonstrate examples of using creativity and technical knowledge to achieve successful business outcomes through an engaging and consultative approach.

· Responsible for leading the design, code and testing of applications utilising an agile and MVP approach.

· Develop and adhere to coding standards and source control either internal or external

· A through understand of the Office 365 and Azure services and product to assist in rapid delivery of business value.

· Demonstrate creative flair in solution proposal and the ability to pay attention to detail in design and delivery

· Lead the design of the applications including recognised best practice in agile development.

· Responsible for leading the development of applications including functional and non-functional requirements

· Understand and include different types of devices, considering constraints of hardware, operating systems or browsers for the solutions

· Be aware and inclusive of accessibility guidelines and best practice in technology solutions

· Contribute and adhere to technical and service governance standards whilst building and maintaining solutions

· Adhere to change processes and produce high quality technical documentation

· Raise issues and provide potential solutions and recommendations should they occur

· Adhere to external best practice and governance such as ITIL and ISO

· Ensure that the appropriate project and technical documentation are completed and kept up to date

· Assist in the planning and development and deployment of systems and services

· IT Governance

o Ensure that agreed standards and working practices are followed which will be governed and reported into the Quality and Governance function.

o Highlight any non-conformance with agreed standards and working practices with the Quality and Governance function. 

· Through research and building quality relationships, ensure that trends and new opportunities within the sector are understood.

· Have a good understanding of BDO's market, its challenges and opportunities, regulatory or compliance considerations as well as learnings from across the BDO International member firms. 

· Professional approach to solution build and thorough documentation in planning to enable transition to BAU service or further ongoing development 

· Significant experience with various technical tools and software that support  software development

· Significant experience of software development methodologies

· Significant experience of structured analysis and design techniques

· Significant experience building, maintaining and supporting applications, including applications that are externally client facing

· Significant experience of authentication, access and identity management technology

· Awareness and / or experience of ITIL processes

· Significant experience of application integration at the various levels application, application interface or data layer

· Significant experience of application data migration and strategies

· Significant experience in larger organisations with the capability to adhere to processes and deliver to high quality standards

· Significant experience in agile methodologies

· Experience in building MVP’s

· Understanding of the learn start up approach in an enterprise environment is advantageous.
