The project delivery team deliver the digital and technology change program for the firm. The position includes coordinating projects and resource management, stakeholder and sponsor communications, reporting, and engagement.
Within this role you will assume full responsibility for the success of the projects ensuring productive engagement with IT teams, other service departments, business stakeholders and third parties.
The projects within the programme are focussed on business value, not just technology and contain business change, commercial and innovation projects. The right candidate will have a broad spread of experience and be outcome focussed. They will also have a strong commercial focus and have experience managing budgets effectively. They should have strong industry best practice knowledge and have relevant certification but should be pragmatic in ensuring the right process for the right situation and have evidence of a variety of approaches.
The candidate must have extensive experience in project management with a varied portfolio of previous significant project delivery.
Written materials are critical to the role so the candidate should be experienced in creating high quality documentation to a professional standard, writing documentation including which convey the messages with appropriate levels of detail, context and structure.
They should have a successful track record of building and managing stakeholder relationships and using these to plan and execute projects effectively and ensure clear unambiguous communication.
The candidate needs to understand the nature and make-up of the business in order to effectively convey benefits and impact assessment of business change,
They should have relevant experience in a similar position and should understand the market that BDO operate in and the nature of the firm’s services.
They should be meticulous in planning and delivery, and as part of a team, planning and executing their work to the plan should be routine along with effective progress reporting.
They will be excellent communicators, confident and engaging in the delivery of material. They will bring energy and enthusiasm to the role and able to work with their stakeholders, their IT colleagues and other parties effectively to ensure there is clear and on-going communication.
While many of the projects involve a technical bias, this is not a pure IT role. The Programme Delivery Team has involvement across other business functions and so suits a candidate with breadth of experience including commercial and business rather than pure IT PM.
They should be willing to assist in other ways outside these core responsibilities where they are delivering value to the overall project. The role is based at 55 Baker Street, London and reports to the IT Programme Manager.
Professional Qualifications and Experience
Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to develop and communicate the objectives, inspire and motivate staff, and maintain alignment with the business strategy.
Ability to effectively leverage knowledge and relationships to achieve success and clear obstacles for the programme.
Experience in delivery of solutions common to legal/professional services including InTapp preferred
Highly empathetic and able to vary styles of interaction to match the needs of a variety of temperaments and personalities.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain and "sell" the program goals and objectives to the business, as well as technical leadership.
Strong business acumen, including industry, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units. Familiar with industry trends and innovation.
Effective influencing and negotiation experience and skills in an environment with high competition for resources.
Excellent analytical, strategic planning and execution skills including commercial budgeting and operational costing.
Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver against financial and resource constraints.
Experience with one or more project/program management methodologies (such as PMI PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile and MSP [managing successful programs]) and across a range of project types.
Knowledge of project planning tools, such as Microsoft Project and Project Server, with evidence of practical application.
Deep understanding of current and emerging technologies, how other enterprises are employing them to drive digital business, and how they may be applied to the enterprise to drive digital business.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience preferable
Experienced as a Project Manager within the professional services industry or similar with a good understanding of project management disciplines and Partnership structures
Experienced in softer skills, including the political and cultural aspects of project management.
Experienced in running a diverse portfolio of projects including application development, software configuration and implementation, infrastructure deployment, office moves, etc.
Qualified in an industry recognised project management discipline or accreditation e.g. PRINCE2, APM or similar or can demonstrate experience in delivering projects using a structured approach
Experience is assisting in tender processes and resultant supplier management.
Industry and commercial knowledge – understanding of accounting and Professional Services Industry – desirable.
