Position Description:

Recruiting for Incinerator Operators  for Silversea cruises -  the World's Best Small Luxury Cruise Line.

Previous cruise ship experience is preferred!
 
Embarkation ASAP

Salary in USD//per month worked - will be discussed at interview

Contract 6 months +/-1

Required: experienced as such, all valid Certificates, good references/recommendations

Position Summary
1. Responsible for the operation and cleanliness of the waste disposal on board the vessel.

Reporting Structure

1. Reporting to the Staff Engineer, Hotel Engineer and on duty Engineer.

Responsibilities
1. Responsible for operating and controlling the incinerators in a safe manner according to Company policies, taking into consideration the hazards associated and ensuring the proper separation of the waste being input.
2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Ensures that all waste is properly prepared to be processed into the incinerators, compactor, pulper or into the cold store. Reporting to supervisor if garbage separation is continually not being done as per requirements. Responsible for the proper offload of waste materials in scheduled ports. Must always be present in the incinerator room when the incinerator is in use. Assists with general maintenance (to include but not limited to the following): a. Cleaning. b. Painting. c. Repairs. Keeps the Chief Engineer, Staff Engineer, Hotel Engineer and duty Engineer promptly and fully informed of all problems, any issues that may compromise the ships safety and any deficiencies found in the machinery or equipment. Keeping supervisors fully informed of the progress of any work undertaken and any defects or problems in his allocated area of responsibility. Responsible for keeping the incinerator room and all machinery areas clean, along with all parts and tools used. 10. Accountable for ensuring that Company, Public Health, National and International standards are maintained and meeting requirements. Reporting to the Staff Engineer any instances where the ship is unable or fails to comply.
11. Accurate completion of log books and other assigned documentation.
12. Observes and enforces uniform and grooming standards according to Company policies.
13. Practices good people management, maintaining proper conduct within the Engine department and other departments around the ship.
14. All other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Safety Duties:
1. Participates in crew safety drills according to instructions.
2. Must always comply with the Company’s safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures.
3. Leads by example by taking care of Health and Safety of self and others.
4. Ensures that all work equipment, personal protective equipment, chemicals and safety devices are being used correctly.

Education/Experience/Qualifications:
1. Valid STCW95 certification.
2. Appropriate certification as required by regulations. 
3. Experience on vessels in an equivalent positon.
4. Physically and medically fit.
5. Moral integrity is required.

Language requirements:
 1. Excellent fluent English (verbal, written and technical). English is the working and safety language on board Silversea vessels. This also includes the ability to give and receive instructions in verbal and written forms and to effectively and efficiently engage with guests and crew members. Additional languages are considered beneficial. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Required to stand, walk long distances, reaching and sitting. Repetitive motion of bending, going up and down stairs, climbing ladders. Lifting or pushing of up to 50lbs. The position requires overtime work and irregular schedules. Works in the incinerator with noise, light traffic, distracting environments. Profile: 1. Punctual. 2. Proactive approach to problem solving.

4. Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm and effective under pressure and resolve issues quickly.
5. Safe, professional and personal practices. Well acquainted with VMS and MLC requirements.

7. Ability to live in close quarters, share limited space with cabin mates.
8. Ability to deliver a high standard of technical performance.
