Job Purpose

To enable the delivery of a high quality, reliable service to passengers, tenants and other internal/external customers, through effective and efficient maintenance of airports vehicle fleet. This includes completion of work in accordance with prevailing MAG processes & contributing towards the continuous improvement of the maintenance service.

Principal Accountabilities

Undertake planned or reactive maintenance work on Stansted motor vehicle fleet, ensuring optimum serviceability which meets agreed service levels and provides a trouble free operational environment, applying the skills and knowledge required for the task. This includes inspecting assets which are not working as needed, assessing & reporting what work is required and undertaking that work.

Repair, service and maintain Light & Heavy Good Vehicles, Cars, Vans and Plant Equipment.

Carry out vehicle refurbishment, fabrication and modification work.

Maintain an up to date working knowledge of a variety of vehicles and computerised diagnostic equipment, improving both technical knowledge and skills.

Order vehicle spare parts and components as required.

Complete vehicle inspection sheets, work time sheets and other documentation in an accurate and timely manner.

Identify, document and undertake a vehicle repairs in a safe, timely and cost effective manner.

Use and maintain tools and equipment in accordance with applicable codes of practice.

Assist in carrying out MOT tests and road-worthiness inspections.

Carry out roadside breakdowns, repairs and vehicle recovery.

Maintain and develop good working relationships with customers and clients.

Assist with the maintaining of a clean and tidy working environment.

Cleaning of vehicles and components.

Carry out tasks which require in depth technical competence in Mechanical and Electrical engineering or minor work in other disciplines which you have the skills to do.

Use prevailing MAG IT and work management systems (for example MAXIMO) as required. This includes receiving & closing down work orders and entering accurate data. Use maintenance system data to understand individual, team & asset performance

Ensure that all engineering and operating records are updated to meet business, regulatory & manufacturer requirements.

Operate and promote working practices which ensure a safe working environment for self and others, contributing to the development of a safety culture and adhering to mandatory regulations & safety procedures.

Engage proactively in any work associated with delivering performance improvements within the engineering environment.

Communicate effectively with customers and maintenance team colleagues on the progress of completing work.

Work with others, including colleagues or apprentices on a one to one basis to help them learn.

Proactively upgrade skills to facilitate the maintenance and operation of new assets being delivered into service to ensure that they are maintained in a manner which keeps them performing at an appropriate level.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

City and Guilds
ONC/HNC Vehicle Engineering
Relevant experience
Full and assessed knowledge of any relevant National or MAG regulations or standards
Meets the requirements of the competence assessment process
Delivering high performance - scheduling prioritising, organising and managing self and/or teams to ensure results are successfully delivered
Reviewing and then implementing what is learned
Drive & decisiveness - enthusiastic and motivated, focusing on achieving results and a standard or excellence. Having a clear sense of direction, persistent in pursuing goals, maintaining focus despite obstacles and set backs
Detailed working familiarity with all aspects of maximo, which support work scheduling, resource scheduling, resource competencies etc.
An outline knowledge of other aspects of maximo and its interface with related systems such as ORACLE and RMS
Able to demonstrate that through formal training/apprenticeship or practical experience that they are able to effectively carry out the task required of the role in the airport
Capable of undertaking effectively Electrical/Mechanical maintenance tasks such as those scheduled in the prevailing MAG apprenticeship scheme
